The Animals were one of the first British bands to make it big in America, as part of the 'British Invasion' in the mid-1960s. 
Rumor has it they got the name "The Animals" because of their wild stage act. 
In fact, they drove the tenagers wild with their rock-edge pop and rhythm & blues sound. 
In 1967 the band broke up and frontman Eric Burton ne new musicians and a new musical direction with psychedelic rock influences.
