It’s impossible to know what impact KEITH BARROW might have made with his music if not for his untimely death at the age of 29. The son of a minister (his mother was a field organiser for Martin Luther King’s civil rights organisation), Barrow was born in Chicago in 1953 and grew up singing in church groups.
In his teens, KEITH BARROW formed his own gospel group before leaving Chicago to pursue a career in music. In 1976, Barrow wrote the Top Fifty R&B single Teach Me (It 's Something About Love) for Blue Magic, who had been working with legendary Philly Soul guitarist Bobby Eli.
Bobby Eli went on to produce KEITH BARROW, the self-titled debut album, which was released on Columbia in 1977. Although not a major commercial success, Barrow’s performance of the Eli written MR. MAGIC MAN gained him some attention, and PRECIOUS became an underground hit.
BBR is very proud to present this newly re-mastered edition of KEITH BARROW, accompanied by extensive liner notes featuring an interview with Bobby Eli and additional bonus material.
