Originally formed as a gospel quartet in the 1950s, The Isley Brothers went on to massive success in a decades-spanning career which has seen them produce music in genres from doo-wop to R&B, funk, soul and rock.

Reaching their third decade as a musical act in the 1970s, The Isley Brothers continued to reinvent themselves with line-up changes and new sounds ranging from 1973 s hit rock anthem Summer Breeze to the smash hit slow jam Don’t Say Goodnight (It s Time for Love) in 1980, incorporating elements of funk and disco along the way.

The 1983 release of the album Between The Sheets brought yet another revolution in the band s sound, as they added synthesizers and electronic beats. The title track became a smash hit, bringing the digital era to the top of the R&B charts, where it reached #3. The track also achieved international success, reaching the UK Singles chart. The oft covered follow-up single, Choosey Lover, gave the band their second consecutive top ten R&B hit, reaching #6.
