Carlos Garnett – The New Love.
     
The New Love from 1978 was the fifth and last album that Carlos Garnett recorded for Muse label in the 70s. He reverts to a smaller combo and features heavyweight musicians like Alphonse Mouzon, Terumasu Hino and Joe Bonner. The album has a slightly lighter feel than its predecessors. It includes the Jazz-Funk Dance classic Uncle Ben and Aunt Jemima , a highly rhythmic track with a wicked bass line a sure fire dance floor filler. Memories of Coltrane is a tribute to the master which starts off with some solos, moves into a spiritual chant and then develops into a corker of dance floor Jazz shifter with a really heavy percussive driving groove, topped with blazing horns reminiscent of a Pharoah Sanders track. We are delighted to present this album on CD for the first time anywhere in the world. This is the final of the five Carlos Garnett Muse albums that we have issued on CD over the last year.
