Loleatta Holloway - Loleatta Holloway.
• Loleatta Holloway was a dance music legend. Her amazing vocal talents gained her the reputation as one of the premier vocalists of soul and dance music during the 70’s and 80’s. Holloway started her singing career with Queen of Gospel, Albertina Walker (and her Caravans) before striking out on her own. She released her first single ‘Rainbow ‘71’ on the fledgling Apache label before moving to Aware to record her first two albums prior to her work with Gold Mind/Salsoul.
• LOLEATTA HOLLOWAY, released in 1979, was the singer's third album on Gold Mind/Salsoul Records and was the follow up to “Queen Of The Night” (CDBBR0258). For this self-titled LP Holloway was teamed with producers Floyd Smith (who took on the majority of tracks) Bobby Womack and Bunny Sigler. Both Sigma Sound Studios in Philadelphia and the legendary Muscle Shoals Sound Studios in Alabama were used to achieve the sound they wanted, and they were able to appropriate the famous Muscle Shoals Horns into the bargain.
• Opening track, also released a single, is ‘The Greatest Performance Of My Life,’ a typically full on Disco stormer with Holloway in full voice and getting in the party mood no matter what gets in the way. ‘That's What You Said’ is a smoother dance floor groove with the strings subtly leading the track while Holloway questions her lover, which gained a #30 slot on the US Disco chart. Another stand out track is ‘All About The Paper,’ an anthemic groove that was a massive favourite on the dance floors and is also represented here in an extended version.
• BBR is proud to present LOLEATTA HOLLOWAY. This expanded and re-mastered edition comes complete with extensive liner notes and added bonus material and is a must have for all R&B, Soul, Funk, Disco and Dance fans out there!
