Bobby Broom is an outstanding guitarist who has maintained a brilliant career through to this day. He consistently tours and records, but until now his debut and sophomore albums have never been released on CD. When Bobby signed to GRP in 1981 he was the most exciting fusion guitarist on the scene since George Benson and came to the label when so-called ‘Jamaica Funk’ was flavour of the day and his label mate Tom Browne had a massive hit with its signature tune. These were the golden years of GRP and their sound still sounds vibrant. Bobby is also a talented vocalist and on “Let It Go” he delivered one of the biggest boogie tunes of the 80s still revived in clubs and on the rare groove scene. Both these albums have the sophisticated production sound GRP lavished on stalemates Bernard Wright, Angela Bofill, Dave Valentin, Jay Hoggard and the aforementioned Tom Browne. They are state of the art for the period.
Bobby Broom was recently in the UK, performing with Sonny Rollins and grabbing fantastic attention (fiver star review on double page spread in London’s Evening Standard).
